Madison Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is the top Concert Band in our system. This group represents Madison in Concerts and Festivals throughout our region. Membership is made up mostly of Seniors and Juniors with advanced Sophomores also qualifying. Members need to audition through demonstrated musical technique and director recommendation. All members are expected to play in all 12 major keys, and be willing to practice the amount neccessary to learn their music. This group meets both second and third trimester and participating students are eligible for all of the Gem State Conference activities that include Honor and Clinic Bands and the Solo and Ensemble Festival. They are also eligible for Idaho All-State Honor Groups and All-Northwest Honor Groups.
Wind Ensemble, February 2014
The Wind Ensemble was formed in the winter of the 2012 - 2013 school year. In addition to their concert music, this group features a local musician as our soloist each spring. Past soloists have included Brian Pyper (Euphonium, 2013), and Emily Magleby (Flute, 2014). The same concert features young composers in performing their original compositions. We're building some good traditions with this Ensemble.
